WHY OLD DODGE CROSSING?
In the latter half of the 19th Century, cattlemen rounded up longhorns by the millions in Texas, cropped their ears,
branded their hides, and drove them north across the Indian Nations into Kansas. Somewhere along the way, without
intending to do more than work for a hard day's pay and board, they launched the legend of the American cowboy.

The cattle drives followed three major routes through what is now Oklahoma. One of those routes, known as the
Chisholm Trail, crossed just a short distance from my back door when I lived in Duncan, Oklahoma. I have moved on,
but traces of the trail remain to this day.
One such trace is on our place. It was a River crossing. Some say it was called The Old Dodge crossing because it
led to Dodge City and others say there was a guy who actually build a house next to the crossing and his name was
Dodge and since he was an old man they called it Old Dodge Crossing.
No one today knows for sure which one is the real reason, the river crossing however was and is known as the Old
Dodge Crossing locally. Today the actual crossing is under an artificial lake, that serves Brady as a Water reservoir.

When we started our Company we played around with many different names, but we always came back to Old Dodge
Crossing, because it has a meaning to us and we are all either old cowboys or Texas history buffs. So Old Dodge
Crossing is our Name.

The Logo is actually a picture of
John Wayne from the movie "Chisum" where his character is modeled after John
Chisholm. At the end of the movie he sits on his horse under a tree looking over his land.
The symbolism of that scene is not lost to us and it visualizes our core values we thought it is a fitting logo for our
company.
